In addition to replacing and repairing roof decking, Avenue Road Roofing constructs decks on flat roofs and the related privacy/safety fencing.
Adding a roof deck is a great idea because it not only expands the living space in your home, but also increases the resale value of your home. You can even turn your flat roof into a green roof.
Roof decks should be designed to allow for cushioning between the surface of the flat roof membrane and the sleepers (supporting deck members). Other design considerations can include modular construction for easy removal, an important feature when it comes time to perform roof maintenance (highly recommended to extend the life of your roof deck).
Construction can be completed with cedar, pressure treated or composite decking materials. To meet building codes, railings must be a minimum of 42” high with picket spacing no greater than four inches on centre.
Costs, starting at $25 per square foot, depend on size, ease of access, design and the quality of the materials. Top-end decking, constructed of premium western red cedar, typically cost about $40 per square foot. Other carpentry services include replacement of columns under porch roofs, restoration of tongue & groove underhangs, wood soffits and fascia boards and wood siding on dormer areas.

Buyer Tip: Enhance the appearance and value of your deck by including in the design built-in seating, storage boxes and holders for planters. |
