Can you point out the soffit on your building? How about the fascia?
Fascia is a flat horizontal band of wood or aluminum around the edge of a roof. This is where the eavestrough is attached to the roof.
Wood fascia requires painting and is often difficult to reach. Aluminum fascia is maintenance free and also comes in a variety of colours.
Soffit and fascia are typically made of pre-painted aluminum that comes in a variety of colors and styles to help enhance the visual appearance of the building exterior. Soffit and fascia also help prevent animal intrusion, improve ventilation (via perforations in the soffit panels) and lower maintenance costs.
Some older buildings have wood soffit and fascia that can be restored with cedar or tongue and groove pine.
Commercial building owners can use soffit and fascia to modernize the look of the plaza or building, a more economic alternative than a major restoration or repainting. |
