Copper and leaded copper represent the premier alloy used in roof-related flashing detail and roof ornamentation. Most commonly it is seen on historical buildings and homes, churches and government buildings.

Copper is more expensive than traditional galvanized metal, but it offers superb durability and is considered the “Cadillac” of metal detailing. Many customers prefer the old world charm of verigated copper (copper weathers to form a green patina), which is striking when combined with materials such as natural slate or cedar.

In homes, copper is typically used on bay window roofs, fascias and overhangs mated with high-grade roofing systems. Construction is completed with copper panels that are available in various gauges (thickness) and require hand soldering with lead or brass.

Avenue Road Roofing is one of the few companies in Canada that employs highly trained coppersmiths who have spent many years refining copper roofing techniques – some of which date back more than a hundred years.

Pricing depends on:

  • the current price of copper (which is subject to market conditions)
  • how easy it is to access your property
  • the complexity of the design
  • fabrication and labour costs

Copper eavestroughs
.
Copper eavestrough systems are ideal for anyone who wants a higher-end look or a design that works beautifully in an historic home.

There are two sizes (5” & 6”) and three basic designs: K-style, ogee and half round roll form. Decorative touches such as conductor boxes and external brackets can blend beautifully with a modern home design or more traditional architecture, such as Tudor, Georgian, and Mediterranean.

The cost of custom copper guttering systems depends on the current price of copper, ease of access and the amount of design detail requested.
