How do you install a Velux skylight on a flat roof?

I have a flat roof I am replacing. There are bubble skylights that also need replacing. Velux says that the roofer can build up the frame around the skylight and slightly slope the angle so that water can run off it. I’m also looking to improve the energy efficiency of the skylights. Is this a practical idea or just trouble looking for a place to start?

Certain models of Velux skylights are designed to be mounted on a sloping curb application. I am also aware that Velux makes a retrofit low-rise dome style skylight that may be the best solution for your circumstance, assuming you already have existing curbs. You should also know that Velux units offer great thermal efficiency.
