Replacing skylight dome with energy-saving panel

Can an existing curb mounted skylight with an acrylic double dome be upgraded with an energy saving type glass panel retaining the existing curb and so not disturb existing shingle roofing?

Velux manufactures retro-fit, glass "low rise" sky-lights which are more thermally efficient than acrylic domes.

Depending on the existing curb size, you may have to get a custom made unit, as Velux makes standard sizes. A custom Velux unit would take a few weeks to be shipped.

Other manufacturers to consider are Columbia & Slimlite.
